The Workers Party of Korea which was founded on the 10th of October 1945 by the great leader President KIM IL SUNG is the supreme general staff of the Korean revolution and the guiding force of the Korean people .Right from the start the WPK was guided by the Juche idea and the people-first idea .Its founder President KIM IL SUNG made sure that the WPK was (and is ) a mass party deeply rooted in the masses of the workers , farmers and working intellectuals . The WPK ‘s emblem is a hammer , sickle and writing brush which represents the workers , farmers and working intellectuals , this makes the WPK distinctive among the communist and workers parties of the world. Today the WPK has millions of members and from all walks of life from street cleaners to top professors and generals.

Since its foundation 80 years ago , originally as the Communist Party of North Korea , the WPK under the guidance of the great leaders President KIM IL SUNG , Chairman KIM JONG IL and Marshal KIM JONG UN , the WPK has victoriously led the Korean people towards socialism and to achieve great miracles , thereby building a great future for the country and the people.

Guided by Juche , the WPK has maintained robust independence in its activities . It worked out original lines and policies which conformed both to the realities of Korea and to the fundamental interests . By establishing Juche and maintaining independence the WPK was able to avoid both Right and Left deviations that occurred in other countries .

The Workers' Party of Korea has staunchly fought against modern revisionism , opportunism , flunkeyism ,dogmatism and factionalism . It has upheld the red flag of socialism opposing the attempts of the modern revisionists, renegades and imperialists to stifle socialism.

The WPK guided 8 decades of socialist construction . It was not plain sailing because the Korean people and their vanguard party the WPK faced more challenges , obstacles and ordeals .

When the DPRK was devastated by the Fatherland Liberation War caused by the Yankee imperialists , the WPK under the leadership of great President KIM IL SUNG roused the Korean people to reconstruct the country in the spirit of self-reliance and rehabilitated the national economy in the space of three years when the Americans had said it would take a hundred years for the DPRK to recover from the damage caused by the US imperialists . Furthermore the WPK and President KIM IL SUNG roused the Korean people to greater miracles in the period of the Chollima Upsurge (Chollima being a legendary Korean flying horse which can cover a great distance in a single day ) in order to achieve socialist industrialisation in a short period of time . Workers of the Kangson Steel Plant (now Chollima Steel Complex ) doubled production within 1 year and the builders of Pyongyang created the Pyongyang Speed in which a flat was built every 14 minutes. During the end of the 1950s industrial output value grew by 36 per cent per year.As a result the DPRK became an advanced socialist industrial state.

During the 1970s comrade KIM JONG IL initiated the 70 Day Speed Battle Campaign at a meeting of senior officials of the

Central Committee of the WPK .The results were truly spectacular . Compared with the months prior to the 70 day campaign industrial output value leapt by a stunning 70 per cent and industrial output increased by 17.2 per cent in a year at a time when the capitalist world faced acute crisis and even the growth rates of some socialist countries declined or stagnated . In agriculture despite unfavourable weather conditions a bumper harvest was reaped and the target of 7 million tons was hit . The DPRK was able to export large quantities of grain.

In 1998 when the DPRK was undergoing the ‘arduous march ‘ due to the sanctions and blockades of the imperialists plus recurrent natural disasters the DPRK launched its first artificial satellite the Kwangmyŏngsŏng-1 to the wonder of the world . At the time the imperialists were raving about the so-called collapse of the DPRK and slandering the DPRK saying that ‘everybody is starving to death ‘ but People’s Korea led by the great Workers Party of Korea and under the banner of selfreliance created yet another miracle defying the doom mongers .

During the past years under the leadership of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN and the Workers Party of Korea , People’s Korea has undertaken a massive programme of construction ; in Pyongyang new streets like Mirae Scientists Street , Ryomyong Street, Songhwa Street , Rimhung Street and many others have risen up . The building of new homes and new streets is not just confined to Pyongyang ; a whole new city was built at Samjiyon and in the past few years 80,000 new homes have been built in the countryside . This amazing expansion of construction work has been undertaken under

conditions of draconian sanctions imposed by the US imperialists and their lackeys .

The DPRK has achieved great miracles in the spirit of selfreliance , a concrete expression of the great Juche idea , the guiding idea of the Workers Party of Korea.

The Workers Party of Korea is indeed the great creator of miracles and the builder of the future . The WPK under the leadership of Marshal KIM JONG UN will create even greater miracles under the banner of self-reliance .

Long live the great Workers Party of Korea ! Long live respected Marshal KIM JONG UN !
