Dear friends and supporters of People´s Korea

This year we celebrate the 80^th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK under the theme: "80 Years of the glorious WPK building the future of the country". I think theme is very fitting.

After the liberation of Korea by the antijapanese revolutionaries, under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung, Korea was destroyed and had nothing. Neither the feudal lords, nor the Japanese imperialists cared to develop any industry. Everything had to be build from the ground up. The Workers Party of Korea first under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung, later under the leadership of comrade Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un made the DPRK into a socialist paradise.

In the first years after the liberation many progressive reforms were made by the Workers Party of Korea.

With the agrarian reform in March 1946 the Workers Party of Korea redistributed the land without compensation. The land of the Japanese imperialists, the traitors to the nation, the landlords and the land, that was continuously rent out, was given free of charge to peasants with no or only small amounts of land. This was the first agrarian reform of this kind in the far east.

Not only the poor peasants, but also the workers profited immensely by the democratic reforms after the liberation. The new labour law of the Workers Party of Korea introduced in June 1946, etablished an 8-hour work day, paid leave and social insurance systems.

When the law on sex equality was introduced in July, of the same year, men and Women were made completely equal. The Workers Party of Korea smashed the centuries old oppression of Women. In western countries Women suffer under prostitution and the so called “sex-industry”, but in the DPRK prostitution is outlawed and there is no pornography or any kind of “sex industry”. The Workers Party of Korea made the DPRK to a country where Women are truly free and equal. Only one year after the law was introduced almost 4500 Women were voted into people´s comitees on all levels, 24 Women were voted into the People's Assembly of North Korea, the predecessor of the Supreme People´s Assembly of the DPRK.

In August 1946, the Workers Party of Korea, nationalized the industries, transportation, communications and banks, making the Korean People its owner and ending the capitalist exploitation of the Working class.

After the founding of the Republic, the Workers Party of Korea, continuously made the life of ordinary Korean better. Here are only some of the achievements of the Workers Party of Korea:

Thanks to the Workers Party of Korea, the prices in People´s Korea are stable, there is no inflation. While in western countries prices for everything rise continuously, the price of food, cloths, public transportation and everything else stays the same.

The Workers Party of Korea made the DPRK the first country in the world without taxation. In western countries the Workers are exploited by the capitalists in the factories and the offices and then have to give a big chunk of the little money they get to the state to finance endless wars and the military-industrial-complex. In the DPRK there are zero taxes. The People´s welfare policy is financed by the earnings of the state owned industry.

The DPRK is also, as far as I know, the only country in the world, where homes are distributed free of charge to the people.

In the DPRK education and healthcare are free. In capitalist countries like the USA, people often have to pay big amounts to get healthcare and ecucation. For the Workers Party of Korea, the people are the most important thing. Paying for education or healthcare would be unimaginable in People´s Korea.

And this is only a small selection of what the Workers Party of Korea did for the Korean people. I could mention so much more, like the right to Work, the cheap public transporation and the children´s Palaces, build everywhere in the country. But since the theme of this meeting is “building the future of the country”, I want to explain, how the Workers Party of Korea is making the future of the country even more prosperous.

If you opened the newspaper or watched TV in a western country, you will hear the same bad news: More and more hospitals, cultural facilities and factories get shut down. Workers lose their jobs, have to drive further to the hospital only to wait longer and can´t enjoy cultural activities.

In the DPRK it´s the opposite. If you hear voice of Korea, or read Rodong Sinmun, you can learn about the 20X10-policy for regional development of the Workers Party of Korea. Through this policy the Workers Party of Korea will build factories, hospitals and cultural facilities in 20 counties, each year, for ten year. The first counties already can see the fruits of this policy, which puts a focus on regional resources.
