80 years of the glorious WPK building the future of the country

Dear comrades, friends and supporters of the DPRK,

The topic for today is 80 years of the glorious WPK building the future of the country. Which other country can brag about eight decades old ruling communist party? Only China. And even then Korea follows close by, especially if we take into consideration that Down-with-Imperialism Union, founded in 1926 was the WPK's predecessor, meaning that the WPK's struggle is now almost a century old.

It is worth celebrating the WPK for its achievements and not just its longevity although the latter is certainly a testament for the former. It has achieved victory after victory. The foundation of the party itself is a fruit of victory in the anti-Japanese gerila war. The Down-with-Imperialism Union was founded by president Kim Il Sung to lead a struggle for the liberation of Korea by relying primarily on the Korean people itself and not by relying on any foreign power. The WPK stayed true to this heritage. Ruling Korea throughout these eight decades, the WPK was true not just to socialist ideology, but also to the principle of putting the people first, of relying on the people and not be anybody's puppet. These tenets provided Korea with ever newer victories, both in building socialism and in resisting foreign occupation in the Korean War, known in the country as the Fatherland Liberation War. Korea which in one fell swoop defeated capitalism, fascism and imperialism and then shortly after defended itself against another wave of reaction. As such it has been a shining example for anti-colonial and anti-imperialist struggles all over the world. The implicit values and policies that made Korean socialism unique in space (being a socialism of the Korean type) and time (being a socialism in the age of Cold War conditions and anti-imperialist struggle) were codified by chairman Kim Jong Il and developed as the Juche idea. Chairman Kim Jong Il has followed the victories of Kim Il Sung with his own. So many communist parties came to power when WPK did as well. Yet today it survives while others do not. It is precisely the self-reliance celebrated by the Juche idea that made this possible as well as the brilliant and skillful leadership of chairman Kim Jong Il. The end of the Cold War showed the incredible resilience of people's Korea. The country used to have incredible international relations, much better than those of the ROK. It balanced good relations with the USSR and China as well as the Non-Aligned Movement. That's the majority of world countries having friendly relations with the DPRK, a situation unthinkable in today's situation where the existence of the Korean Friendship Association is actually justified. Then practically over night the Cold War ended and one of the two blocks collapsed. The DPRK could have easily become a satelite state of China. Yet it remained fully independent, among the most independent countries in the world even. How many countries could have gone through that? Yet one country smaller than Germany did, remains self-reliant and marches to new victories to defend independence. That is admirable about the DPRK and about the WPK's leadership. Under respected comrade Kim Jong Un Korea has continued to advance. The needs of the people are being met. People are being fed and their living conditions regularly lifted to new civilizational standards with ambitious building projects. Korea keeps building socialism and maintaining Songun politics which keeps it militarily strong and able to resist any future confrontation. People's Korea advances as a nuclear power and a space power, being able to keep up with the world powers all by its own efforts. Today the world once again seems to be changing. Sometimes it seems like we are in a new cold war. Sometimes it seems like the world is moving away from the unipolar domination of the US to multipolarity. Whatever the future holds, I am sure that the DPRK under the leadership of the WPK will act wisely and continue to progress, becoming a model for all countries which in the new world want to secure their own future.

Some in the West say that today it is easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism. The 21st century seems particularly bleak, we don't dream of a better future like we used to. The WPK has been building the future for the minimum of 80 years now. Many countries around the world today lack the means of visualize the future, let alone to build it. When I look at the DPRK I see not just great achievements, but also great fate in the rulling Party as well as great hope for the future. It is an ambitious contry doing whatever it takes to defend its people. This is why I am proud to be among the supporters of the DPRK and the WPK, to celebrate the extent of what humanity is capable of.
